Choosing a finish...

Wax, paint or bare wood - the choice is yours...

Most items on this website are in their stripped state, i.e. ready for waxing or painting.

We offer a waxing service on any piece and charge a flat rate of 10% of the cost of the piece, i.e a wardrobe at £795 would cost £79.50 to wax and a chest of drawers at £450 would cost £45.  A minimum charge of £25 applies for smaller pieces.

We mainly use Briwax P7 (medium brown) and Fiddes (Stripped pine) wax which is the professional user version of their best selling wax, this tints the wood to a light honey brown colour and gives the finish which most people associate with antique pine.

Some customers like to have their items waxed with a clear wax which gives a soft sheen without changing the colour of the wood, this is also available at 10% surcharge.

Whilst the majority of our customers choose to receive their pieces stripped or waxed many like their items to be painted. We are happy to paint in any brand, any colour. We mainly use and recommend Farrow & Ball but can also paint our antique pine furniture in Dulux Heritage, Fired Earth, Little Greene etc etc

Painting typically adds 20% to the cost of a piece and waxing is generally 10% of the cost of the piece.

If you are an existing customer we keep records of your previous purchases and finishes applied so can check those for you.
